Why we exist

Modern mornings are loud. Notifications, headlines, schedules — all before the first sip of anything warm. Dawn Whisk exists to make space for five quiet minutes: the slow whisking of matcha, the soft scrape of a bamboo scoop, the warmth of a bowl in your hands. Not a productivity hack. Not a wellness trend. Just a small, deliberate ritual to claim the morning back for yourself.

What we make

We make a small, focused collection of bamboo matcha tools — the chasen (whisk), the chashaku (scoop), and the wooden trays that hold them. No ceramic bowls (they break in shipping). No matcha powder (sourcing changes everything; you should pick your own). Just the tools, made well, designed to last through thousands of mornings.

Our standard

Every whisk is made in Anji, Zhejiang — the bamboo region that has supplied chasen makers across Asia for over a century. We work with small workshops that still split, shape, and tie each whisk by hand. A single 100-tine chasen takes about 40 minutes from raw bamboo culm to finished tool.

We chose bamboo over plastic because plastic doesn't belong in a ritual. We chose handmade over factory because the small irregularities — the slight curve of a tine, the warmth of natural grain — are what makes a tool feel alive in your hand. And we price honestly: no markups for prestige, no inflated "luxury" tax.

The people behind it

Dawn Whisk is a small team based in Hangzhou, working directly with bamboo artisans two hours away in Anji. We hand-pack every order ourselves. There's no warehouse, no middleman, no algorithm deciding what we sell. Just a few people who care a lot about how mornings begin.
